Cheetah-XLS Confirmation
After five frustrating years the confirmation that the Cheetah-XLS had now been Certified in Australia eventually came through. In fact the entire range of aircraft built by Rainbow Aircraft Pty Ltd ( 3 Axis and trikes ) are now acceptable to RA-Aus under CAO95.55 and CAO95.32 respectively, as long as they are Commercially manufactured in South Africa and approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority as complient with LS/1. All these requiremenmts have been met and the first Cheetah has been ordered and curently under construction. It will hopefully arrive and be based in Bunbury by the end of August, all being well.
South Africa Trip
I have just been back to Johannesburg to spend time in the factory looking at the entire process from manufacture of the components through to the final assembly. It never ceases to impress me how much planning and thought have gone into the entire process to produce aircraft kits that are both easy to build and maintain, with no detail overlooked. The final result - Ultralights that are pleasing to the eye and a pleasure to fly. The team at Rainbow Aircraft are constantly making improvements and fine tuning what is already a great product.
While at the factory I took a series of photogtraphs of different steps in the assembly process and have included some of these on the site. I will update this section regularly and keep you all posted on developments as they happen and certainly post a number of pictures of the Cheetah when it arrives. This incidentally is the 100th Cheetah off the production line.
